Guernsey Railway Company Limited & Guernseybus Limited, St Peter Port

Guernsey Railway Co Ltd was formed in 1889 and took over the tramway operated by Guernsey Steam Tramway Co Ltd.  Guernsey Railway Co started to operate petrol engined double deckers in 1909. Since the withdrawal of the AEC double deckers all buses in Guernsey have been single deckers.

In 1919 Guernsey Motors Ltd was formed and became one of the larger bus operators in the island, buying out several smaller independents. Guernsey Railway Co bought a substantial share in Guernsey Motors. Guernsey Railway Co operated in the north of the island and Guernsey Motors in the south. Guernsey Railway Co and Guernsey Motors merged in 1974

In 1979, Guernsey Railway Co Ltd was taken over by Steiner Investments Ltd. The new management decided to update the ageing fleet of older buses (Albion Victor), with secondhand Bristol SU's previously operated by Western and Southern National. 22 SUs were to see service in Guernsey - 16 buses and 6 coaches. These were prepared for service in Guernsey by Kinross Plant and Construction, Kinross.

Guernsey Railway Co ceased trading in Dec 80 and the operation was taken over by a new company - Guernseybus. Guernsey Bus operated coach services under the name of Deltatours.
